Course Title: 6th Grade Social Studies

Instructor: Jennifer Gooch

Course Description:

In 6th Grade Social Studies we study Geography which is the earth in all its variety. Geography describes the earth’s land, water, and plant and animal life. We will study places and the complex relationships between people and the environment. When applying our knowledge of Geography to the ancient civilizations listed below we will focus on answering the following question: How do the ideals, values, and contributions of the following ancient civilizations affect our lives today?

 

History Alive Curriculum:

Our curriculum is student-centered and activity-based. It is standard based learning with dynamic lessons and integrates hands on learning and content reading. End of lesson assignments, involving multiple intelligences and higher-order thinking skills, challenge students to apply what they have learned in a variety of creative ways.

Scope & Sequence By Term:

T1 - Early American Cultures, Aztec, Inca, Maya
T2 -Mesopotamia, Egypt
T3 -China, India, Greece

 

 

Course Title: 6th Grade Invitation to Languages andCourse Description:

This course is will focus on introducing students to a variety of foreign languages. We will also discover modern world cultures and their geography around the globe.  This course will mainly study Spanish, French, Latin, Italian, German, and Japanese.  It will also have an emphasis on current events ocurring in and around these cultures.  We will discuss their impacts on our globally connected world today.
